☀️Using Grow Lights for Houseplants: Make Your Plants Think It's Summer☀️

There is a simple way to fool plants that it is summer time again, and that is by growing them indoors under lights. Most plants, when grown under supplementary light, are simply tricked into believing that the increased day length and light intensity is just summer arriving again and they will start to grow and blossom.

The type of lights used to encourage plant growth is important as not all light will achieve the desired effect. To optimise plant growth using LED lights with the appropriate colour spectrum is crucial. In recent years, extensive research has been conducted on using LED lights for commercial crop production.

Our propagation house utilises energy-efficient LED lights made up of red and blue bulbs exclusively. Throughout the winter season, we propagate plants under these lamps, resulting in an abundance of plants for growth in our main glasshouses come spring.

You can find Grow Lights for Indoor Plants easily online - many come with timers to automatically turn on lights for 8-10 hours daily. If you need something more sophisticated, it's possible to build a bespoke multi-layered grow-light garden. In regions of the world with long winters, like northern America and Scandinavia, many amateur growers have large indoor light systems in their basements to keep their plants thriving all winter long (and that's how our dad started growing streps - in our cellar).

Indoor lights can have several uses, either to grow edible crops or herbs, to give seedlings an early start for the spring, for propagating cuttings, or as a standalone feature with attractive foliage and flowering plants. Whether you're cultivating a delicious harvest, jumpstarting your garden, propagating cuttings, or simply adding decorative blooms, grow-light gardens have got you covered with stunning results!
