Streptocarpus comes in two distinct forms. The rosulate types—the varieties we know the best. Then there's subgenus Streptocarpella, which features stemmed varieties and species.
This image shows our Plant Heritage display at Hampton Court last year, which included a range of Streptocarpella, including 'White Butterfly', caulescens pallescens and 'Blueberries 'n' Cream'.
You'll recognise Streptocarpus saxorum (below), a favourite for summer hanging baskets, as part of this stemmed group. Streptocarpella, with their delicate flowers and small fuzzy, succulent-like leaves, thrive as greenhouse specimens and as houseplants. Here's a selection (and the species seed includes streptocarpella species).
