Quick tips for Spider Plants

It’s fascinating how people often overlook the care of their spider plants (Chlorophytum) compared to their other houseplants. Here are some common tips I share:

  • Regularly feed your spider plants with a high potash fertilizer to encourage blooming and baby plant growth (yes, they do need feeding!)
  • Don't over-pot; in fact, keep them slightly pot bound.
  • Provide bright, indirect light for best results.
  • And avoid overwatering spider plants.

Remember, propagating spider plants is incredibly simple using the offsets (baby plantlets)! Carefully detach them once they have developed their own roots, then pop them into pots containing moist, fibre-based compost. Alternatively, you can remove the baby spiders and place them in a glass of water. When their roots grow longer, pot them up individually.
